Scarf made from soft acrylic yarn in the colors of Gilbert Baker's gay pride flag. It is 6 in wide by 6 ft long. Hand-knit.
In 1977, artist, activist, and openly gay military veteran named Gilbert Baker was challenged by fellow activist, future politician, and LGBTQ hero Harvey Milk to create a symbol for the gay community, and the end product was the first rainbow LGBTQ flag. It made its debut at the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade on June 25, 1978.
Each of the eight colors has a meaning:
Pink: Sex
Red: Life
Orange: Healing
Yellow: Sunlight
Green: Nature
Turquoise: Magic/Art
Indigo: Serenity
Violet: Spirit
